Typically part of the quest for knowledge leads to more questions than answers. As I come up with my questions I will put them down in my list here so that I remember to investigate them later. I am noticing that with a full-time job and a new Dad, I do have as much time to investigate these questions as I would like. If you as a reader feel you have answers or know of some references to which I can find my answers, please feel free to leave a comment.
- What is sin in its most general form and how have we distorted its meaning? How has this distortion impacted the Church’s communication with the secular world?
- Is death really a consequence of our sin and how does it relate to the Genesis story in the Bible? More specifically, how does it relate to human self-awareness, free will and moral evil, their impact on creation and how the redemption of creation is somehow dependent upon humanity?
- What is knowledge? How are faith and knowledge related?
- How is it that God could allow the gospel to become so distorted by humanity that it barely even resembles the original form the early Christians intended it to be? Even more so, how could God allow it to become so distorted that many Christians have no choice but to turn from their faith and walk the other way and if they do, would this really be considered a rejection of Christ? Would their salvation really be in jeopardy? Furthermore, if people who have not yet accepted Christ reject Christ by rejecting the distorted version of Christianity that has been presented to them, can we really say that they rejected Christ?
